The parts that actually keep machines going
Electrodes and nozzles get all the attention, but a worn consumable costs you cut quality, not days of production. The parts that put a machine on the floor sit behind the torch - and Hypertherm publishes a preventive maintenance programme for each system, with a component replacement schedule based on cumulative arc hours, that says exactly when they are due. Plazmax supply all the parts those schedules call for.
Power source parts
Main and inrush contactors, pilot arc relays, ignition boards, high frequency transformers, control and I/O boards, choppers, and the cooling fans that keep all of it alive. On short cut cycles - lots of small holes, part marking - relays and starting components wear faster than the schedule assumes, and a pitted contactor announces itself as misfires long before it fails outright.
Coolant system parts
Coolant pumps and pump motors, coolant filters, check valves, flow switches and flow meters, solenoid valves, and Hypertherm coolant itself. Run a consumable to complete failure and the copper ends up in this loop, taking the pump, filter and check valve with it. Hypertherm recommends replacing the coolant and coolant filter every six months on XPR systems.
Gas system parts
Gas solenoid valves, gas check valves, pressure sensors, transducers, and air filter elements. Poor incoming air quality shortens the life of all of them, and false pressure readings and gas errors usually trace back to this layer.
Torch connection and leads
Torch main bodies, quick-disconnect receptacles, torch leads, pilot arc leads, work leads, water tubes, O-rings, torch rebuild kits, and gas hoses in supply lengths.
